Georgian I, 1-15 credits
The course provides an orientation on Georgian culture and society and a basic knowledge of the grammatical structure of Georgian (phonology, morphology and syntax) with particular focus on typologically interesting features. It includes an introduction to Georgian and South Caucasian studies as well as an overview of the language situation in Georgia.
The course is offered as an IT-based distance learning course with instruction in English. Interactive exercises play an important role in the course. The internet based material includes all the necessary literature for the course, including texts, audio files and a dictionary. All material is offered in parallel transcription and Georgian script.

Admission requirements
The special prerequisite for this course, besides basic eligibility for university studies, is field-specific entry requirements 6: Civics A and English B. Applicants are exempted from the English B and Civics A requirements but the equivalent of English A in Swedish secondary school is required.
